This is a rather odd post but I just wanted to share.
So a friend saw my Ned puppet and remarked that I have "deprived him of his manhood" to which I replied "I meant to only make a cute little puppet"

She kept insisting that I was cruel to Ned, saying that his "manhood" was what made him Rochester (and got him into messes in the first place).

I thought about whether what I did (unconsciously no doubt) was in essence what Bertha, Jane, and Charlotte do to Rochester. He ends up being incapacitated by the end of the novel.

Let me just say: It is lovely when a Prof listens, encourages and advices you. Just that little sliver of recognition from them can do wonders.
