And if I can gain the public ear at all, I would rather whisper a few wholesome truths therein than much soft nonsense.

Some more screenshots ( I just finished watching the 1983 BBC JE)
So dashing!
This scene was really intense..especially the way Rochester pleaded to Jane.
Hi Frankengirl! I do *love* Dalton's portrayl of Rochester...I too have yet to see the 1973 version...but I doubt I'd find any other Rochester as appealing as Dalton's :)
One comment: On the DVD cover for the 1983 JE, Rochester's (Dalton) face dominates the space on the cover, with a snamll figure of Jane running in the background. Why is this? Some kind of marketing technique? Possibly because Dalton is more familiar to people? I feel, however, that althought marketing techniques might be at work, that justice must come first. After all, Jane Eyre the story could be simply stated as "a portrait of justice". By giving a false idea to those who view the DVD cover: that the story is MORE about Rochester than it is about Jane. And I don't think this is fair.
